Dr. Caliban Reviews "Audio Books"
Im glad to be able to get in a word or two about "Audio Books" into "Reviews". It is free to get the app and most of the audio books offered. However, one is able to pay a once only fee to download recordings of extraordinary narrators. This is the route Ive taken and have yet to be disappointed,in over three or four years, by any of the amateur readers - some of whom I would advise to look into becoming professional narrators. The third choice: Books that have a different price on each and feature people who are exceptional interpreters but,as I mentioned, each item in this third grouping has its own price tag. From my nest in the second category,I felt I had definitely received my moneys worth before I had finished the second book. I subscribe to the Audible app and I would not be misleading you by suggesting that half the single payment ("PLUS") books, with a very little polishing would fetch a good price if listed in Audible. The single fee that will get you access to the "PLUS" audio books is (on average )less than a quarter of the price of a single item in Audible. Listen to some of the previews in "Audio Books"(PLUS) and I believe anyone who enjoys LISTENING to a narrative will quickly find something of interest. I am becoming rather picky about the narrator of the moment as I am approaching the age most people begin to think more often about when they will be "assuming room temperature" and are more stringent when choosing a narrator and dumping an irritating reader. So many books, so little time...as the long on the tooth set lament.
