I love Dave and this app. A+
I was pleasantly surprised to see this app was updated today! Ive gotten to know the great classics like Anna Karenina as well as some surprising favorites like Unbeaten Tracks in Japan. The download feature is great for traveling or times when you cant access wifi. I like to listen every night before bed.
Great app, update makes it even better. Keep up the good work! ✌?️
Ive used this app alongside ibooks and audible apps for many years (>5.) I am a shut-in who has audiobooks as my tenants. All three of the mentioned programs function well. After the face lift Audiobooks got today, it is my #1. Especially as I consider the vast amount of amazing public domain books that are out there. Listenup: authors like Maurice Leblanc are diamonds waiting to be found.
This is a wonderful app. It saved me so much time reading my summer book for school that I got to go to the beach while I listened to Sherlock Holmes. The only thing that I dont like is the new "face" of the app. I liked the old book and earbuds but I guess not everybody does. Overall, thanks for this great timesaving app!!
Books that I download disappear after i open the app again. Dont download
I love listening to the books I download in Librivox! An excellent application!! Thanks!
Im glad to be able to get in a word or two about "Audio Books" into "Reviews". It is free to get the app and most of the audio books offered. However, one is able to pay a once only fee to download recordings of extraordinary narrators. This is the route Ive taken and have yet to be disappointed,in over three or four years, by any of the amateur readers - some of whom I would advise to look into becoming professional narrators. The third choice: Books that have a different price on each and feature people who are exceptional interpreters but,as I mentioned, each item in this third grouping has its own price tag. From my nest in the second category,I felt I had definitely received my moneys worth before I had finished the second book. I subscribe to the Audible app and I would not be misleading you by suggesting that half the single payment ("PLUS") books, with a very little polishing would fetch a good price if listed in Audible. The single fee that will get you access to the "PLUS" audio books is (on average )less than a quarter of the price of a single item in Audible. Listen to some of the previews in "Audio Books"(PLUS) and I believe anyone who enjoys LISTENING to a narrative will quickly find something of interest. I am becoming rather picky about the narrator of the moment as I am approaching the age most people begin to think more often about when they will be "assuming room temperature" and are more stringent when choosing a narrator and dumping an irritating reader. So many books, so little time...as the long on the tooth set lament.
I recommend this app
Downloaded and tried to listen but nothing will play. Takes time to download a book then doesnt play. Waste of my time
I dont like this because they have no good books, also why 12+? Most people under that age level reads different books and you will get more money, people like the series diary of a wimpy kid and do reports on it and nothing, add more books like shooters, also I keep crashing.
I am very pleased to have the opportunity to listen to the Bible as I drive daily. I fully support libravox and the volunteers who prepare audiobook recordings. Thank you.
There needs to be a way to rate readers from in app. Some readers are fantastic while others are awful and make you want to quit listening. For example while trying to listen to the Count of Monte Cristo the first two readers were pretty good. But then came the female reader with a grating voice, mechanical reading, and horrible pronunciation. I have tried several times to get through her part to no avail. With a rating system perhaps they can replace the sections ruined by these horrible readers. Other than that the selection of classic literature is pretty good.
I really really like this app and I use it all the time! The only problem is sometimes when Im listening in the chapter switches the app seems to pause or glitch and it wont play anything for a day or two. Sometimes when I go to open the app and play a book it wont even start it just sits there on play the timer doesnt run, just silence. Ive tried deleting all my books and re-downloading the app but that only fixes it for a day or two until the same thing happens again. Ive tried using other audiobook apps but I always come back to this one because it has such a great variety of classic books. Please fix the bug!!
Love that you can get free audiobooks, but if youre trying to listen to it in the car it wont download or play
Not for a person who wants newer books (like hunger games, divergent etc.) but for classics (secret garden,Anne of green gables etc.) its perfect the dramatics readings help me sleep
I have use this app for over a year and loved it. Sadly, it wont play anymore. Ive tried uninstalling and reinstalling it without any luck. Im very disappointed!
Ive had this app since my 1st iPhone and with it Ive experienced Sherlock, Frankenstine, Dracula, Tarzan, John Carter, treasure island, 30000 leagues, deathworld, Dr. Moreau and many many others for free! I cant say enough how happy I am with this app!
I have never been in to classic book reading. No time to sit and enjoy a good book This allows me to do both and even gets my son interested in books. It also has unlimited downloads Much better than 99% of other apps out there! Thank you!
I downloaded to my iPhone 6S but it says wifi only downloads. How do I change this? Why wasnt there a log-in/set-up page? I almost always use cellular only on my phone because wifi too slow (in NH).
